Commoner than often thought - but often fixable well

At one time, many children born with #congenitalheartdisease (CHD) had a poor outlook. Thanks to technological advancements and improvements in care - most children with CHD are now living to adulthood. Reports in the US suggest that there are an estimated 2 million adults living with CHD in the United States, meaning that, for the first time ever, there are more adults than children with CHD.

A lifelong physician

A #paediatriccardiologist is therefore often a life-long clinician and ongoing part of a childs care team once a cardiac diagnosis is made to maintain a good long term outlook and enable the child to reach their full potential
